Purpose of the Event
These regulations define the conditions for the organization and participation in the Rennes Road Races 2026.
The event aims to offer a road unicycle competition consisting of two complementary races, whose times will be added together to produce a combined overall ranking.
Organization
The event is organized by Rennes Monostars, the unicycle club of Rennes.
Race Director: Simon JAN
Timing Manager: Baptiste MOCQUET
The organizer is responsible for the proper conduct of the races, participant safety within the framework of the event, and compliance with all authorizations issued by the authorities.
Meeting Point
The meeting point for bib and transponder pickup (Saturday, May 30 from 1:00 pm) and for both races is the mi-forêt parking area,
near the D27 road in the municipality of Liffré.
The start and finish areas of both races will be located within 100 meters of the parking area.
Races
Individual Time Trial (ITT) – Saturday, May 30, 2026 from 3:00 pm
3.9 km loop on paved roads (D27 and forest road), clockwise direction (see map).
Individual starts, spaced at least 20–30 seconds apart (to be confirmed depending on the number of participants).
The slowest riders will start first, the fastest last. The start order will be announced later.
Road Race / Mass Start – Sunday, May 31, 2026 at 9:30 am
8.2 km loop, to be completed:
Ages 11–15: 2 laps (16.2 km)
Ages 16 and over: up to 6 laps (maximum approx. 50 km)
Mass start. Depending on the number of participants, there will be at least two separate starts: 1/ Ages 16 and over 2/ Ages 11–15
Time limit: after 2 hours 30 minutes of racing (around 12:00 pm), riders will be stopped when crossing the finish line.
Unicycle Categories
At registration, participants must choose one unicycle category for both races:
Standard 29-inch OR Unlimited (wheel larger than 29 inches and/or geared hub).
Ages 16 and over: both categories are open without restriction.
Ages 11–15: choose your category at registration; depending on the number of participants, the organizer reserves the right to combine results into a single category.
Rankings and Awards
Rankings for each individual race will be published for information only; awards will be given solely based on the combined ranking.
The combined weekend ranking is determined by adding the times of both races:
Riders are first ranked by the number of laps completed in the mass start race.
The winner is the rider who completes the most laps (maximum 6, or 2 for ages 11–15) with the lowest combined time.
Riders who do not participate in the ITT will be assigned the time of the slowest rider in the ITT within the same unicycle category, age group, and gender.
Rankings will be established by unicycle category, gender, and age group. Age groups will be defined based on participation (minimum 6 riders per age group).
The medal ceremony for the combined ranking will take place immediately after the end of the road race, followed by a shared picnic on site.
Timing
All races will be electronically timed using transponders.
Transponders will be provided with the bib number on Saturday from 1:00 pm and must be attached to the ankle.
Transponders and bibs must be returned to the organizers upon finishing the road race on Sunday.
In case of withdrawal, participants must inform the timing manager.
Safety
Mandatory Protective Equipment
Helmet, knee pads, gloves, and closed-toe shoes are mandatory for all races, from start to finish.
Elbow pads are recommended.
Open Roads
The races take place partly on open roads.
Although priority is given to the race, participants must ride on the right-hand side of the road and remain vigilant toward other road users.
